There Goes My Hero

Thank you Brian xx

Anyway, woohoo what a weekend! Last Saturday me, Jamie, Alex, Em, Richard and Jamie's mom all went up to London to see FOO FIGHTERS! Wahey! We had to get up really really early though, because me and Jamie had persuaded them to take us to Camden first. It didn't take long to get to the train station, although I did manage to go through the entire International Superhits album and a few tracks off Warning, hehe.

To get to Camden we had to take the tube - I HATE TRAINS! Even more so, the tube. 'Tis the devil of all trains! Anyhoo, It took ages to get to Camden, because we were in Stanmore and Camden was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay across almost three other lines, but we got there eventually and the first thing me, Alex and Em did was find a toilet, which was weird and smelled like disinfectant. Then we walked up the street to Camden market.

Eventually me and Jamie got bored of walking round with them, so we went off on our own and found this little food court thing with all these stalls from different countries like Japan, Morroco, Mexico, France etc. But we chose the british one and had a hot dog, hehe. Then I rang Lewis and asked him where Jacks house was, 'cause we couldn't find it. He gave us some very vague directions (it's near the bridge) so we didn't know where it was. Then Jamie's mom bought me a Corpse Bride shirt for Christmas!

Me and Jamie turned a corner and heard all this funky music, so we went to find out where it was coming from and we found a cyber goth shop! It was really scary, but we went in anyway and everything was luminescent and all these crazy people were just in there dancing. It was really funny - but we left pretty quickly. We almost got lost in there though, it was really big.

Then we STILL couldn't find Jacks house, but we found this indoor market thing and they were selling shirts for £5, Jamie decided to buy a Foo Fighters one and I spotted this awesome 'The Cure' shirt, and it had Robert Smith on the front and I loved it, so I bought it. We wandered round a bit more, and we went into this goth shop and laughed at the leather coats 'cause that's what Danny wears and he's a prick. Then this guy walked up to us and was like "HEY GUYS!" and we were like "AAH!" and then he was like "DO YOU WANT A FREE BOOK?! IT'S FOR A CHARITY WHERE WE HELP THE HOMELESS BUT YOU HAVE TO GIVE A DONATION OF A FIVER!" And Jamie was like "I have a pound, is that okay?" And the guy was all "YEAH!" So we got a book, but I haven't read it yet.

We decided to go to Tottenham Court Road to get something to eat, and my sister texted me telling me she was in London too, so we decided to meet up at the Plaza on Oxford Street. But before that me, Jamie, Alex, Em, Richard and Alison all went into Virgin Megastores and me and Jamie found this cool basement with all these instruments in it that everyone was playing - so I started playing the piano and Jamie was surprised 'cause he didn't know I could. Then he was all like "Play Warning" So I did haha and he looked all shocked.

After that we all went into the Plaza to have something to eat before going to the concert, and I met up with my sister and Chris who were going to see Tin Tin! But we couldn't stay there long because it was 6:15 and the doors to the thing opened at 6:00, so we raced to Earls Court and practically ran to the doors and got in straight away ^_^ then we had to climb a million and one stairs ('cause we got our tickets really late and had to be seated right at the back.) But as soon as we took our seats it was awesome, we had a great view of the stage and it totally reminded me of Linkin Park! There was hardly anyone in the pit though, and hardly anyone in the seats so we were really surprised when all of a sudden the lights went down and this band came on!

At first me and Jamie thought (jokingly) that it was Kut U Up, but we knew it wasn't really and eventually we found out it was Eagles Of Death Metal, do you know how we found out? Because it went something like this:

Lead singer of Eagles Of Death Metal: Thanks for coming tonight guys! We're the Eagles Of Death Metal and we love you! Hey look at you there! We're the Eagles Of Death Metal! YES THAT'S RIGHT! The Eagles Of Death Metal!

Then the lead singer was like "We're gonna recruit a new drummer tonight! Welcome, El Diablo!" (This was when I realised they had a female drummer woo1) then someone walked on stage and everyone in the pit went ".... AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!" and everyone seated went ".. WHAT?! SHIT IT'S DAVE GROHL!" That was cool.

I thought they were alright, but nothing special or anything. Me, Alex, Jamie and Em spent most of their set screaming "I LOVE MARG!" and "WEH EH EHH!" It makes sense to us! Then when Eagles OF Death Metal (YES! That's right! The Eagles Of Death Metal!) went off, and the lights came back up whilst they set up for the Futureheads me and Jamie started playing this game that's really fun if you're seated at a show.

Basically you have to pick out someone from the pit, or from the seats opposite you who looks distinguished, and then say something like "Pit, yellow shirt" and the other person would have to try and find them. Although ours were really weird like:

"Pit, Santa!" (Yes, there really was someone dressed as santa)
"Seated, light blue shirt, really really fat!" (That was Jamie)
"Pit, walking, Paul Burgess!" (That was me, and it really did look like Paul Burgess!)

Then we started watching people walking either to or from the pit, and humming the star wars theme to match their speed. Everyone was walking to the star wars theme! There was this one guy who was walking really slow and it took ages for us to go through the theme, hehe.

Eventually the lights went down again and on came The Futureheads! I like the Futureheads, so I was all "Yay!" and I got my phone out 'cause I promised Pedro i'd ring him when they did Hounds Of Love, cause we went through this stage at school where everyone was just like "OH OHOH OH OH!" They were really good - when they did Decent Days And Nights, I got a recording of it on my phone 'cause I love that song, and FINALLY they did Hounds Of Love, but I wanted a recording of it - so I recorded the first bit where they just said "Oh Ohoh!" over and over again, then I rang Pedro. It was really funny cause I was holding the phone out and then I held it to my ear to see if I could hear him, and all I heard was "OH OHOH OH OH!"

Then The Futureheads went off and the banners were pulled down to reveal 'FF' and everyone was screaming and me and Alex sat there like "YEAH! FRANZ FERDINAND!" Then the curtain that usually just drops to reveal the Foo Fighters logo was lowered and everyone got really confused. I was all "Wooo! We're gonna see one third of Nirvana!"

Then Dave Grohl ran onto stage and everyone started cheering as the other members of the band did as well. Then he was all "LOOOOOOOONDDDDDDOOOOOOOOON!" and everyone screamed again. Then the curtain that had been lowered was raised up and we realised it wasn't a curtain at all but a screen with funky lights on it that kept spelling stuff out. The first song that they did was 'In Your Honour' I didn't know the words to it, cause I don't have the new album but there was this irritating group of RAT KIDS next to me who were squealing the words. They played 'Best of you' and 'My hero' (I love my hero, i'm so glad they played it) and the girls were still squealing and I got a funky video of the green lasers that were being shone everywhere.

Then they played 'Learn To fly' and I thought 'Yes! Finally a song I know all the words too!' so I was singing along, and most of the arena was as well, apart from the girls next to me who were looking at each other and saying 'what album is this on?!' Haha in your faces! There were There were four songs I really wanted them to play: Monkey Wrench, Breakout, Big Me and Low. They played all but low which was awesome!

I promised Seth i'd ring him on 'Everlong' and when they did it I immediately dialled his number. It was an amazing version of Everlong. They'd slowed it right down and it was just Dave Grohl alone on the stage until right near the end when the rest of the band came on and finished the song with him. Then Dave Grohl suddenly jumped off stage and ran into the audience! He ran right round the pit, and then charged through it to the maintenance section right in the middle and carried on singing! (I think it was during breakout) then he ran back to the stage but we lost sight of him halfway so we figured he'd been captured by evil fans! When he got back on stage he said:

"You know, usually when I do that bit, I get a pinch on the nipples, a couple of nipple twists, a slap on the butt etc. I don't appreciate it! I'm a good person! I'm still a virgin you know!" And everyone yelled "BULLSHIT!"

My voice started to go when they played Breakout, 'cause there's the bit in it when you scream your head off and that's exactly what we were doing! Towards the end of the show I really wanted them to do Taylor's song, 'cause Tasha had said they switch and let Taylor sing. So I was really happy when Dave started talking about a switcheroo and he went on drums and Taylor picked up a guitar - I remember saying to Jamie "Considering he talks like a hillbilly, he can't half sing!" It was really good.

It was an amazing show, my head hurt like hell when I woke up the next day, but it was worth it. I love marg, washitleranicemon.
