I've Had Tons So Far

Yesterday me, Jamie and Loe went looking around Leicester college, because we don't want to stay on at Bosworth, because that school sucks. But that's a boring story, so i'll skip to the goodness.

We were going to see My Awesome Compilation again (3rd time woo!) so we decided to wander past The Charlotte (it was 4 hours early) just to see if anything was happening. There was a van outside, and we peeked in, but there were people in there so we got scared and went and sat inside MacDonalds for 45 minutes because we were cold.

Then we went back to The Charlotte and we sat round the corner saying if we saw any members of MAC we'd talk to them, then Darius from MAC walked by us and we both watched him then looked at each other and said 'Was that Darius?' We felt stupid.

Then a van pulled up that had Woody and Andy in it, so when they were unloading that van we talked to Darius and he agreed to look at the pictures we had from the previous gig we'd been to with them, he said they were cool and that we should be band photographers. Awesome.

Then we went and stood outside the doors looking in because it was freezing and we were shivering, then the door to the van next to us opened and a man poked his head out and was like "Aww, you look cold, do you wanna sit in here?"

I just read that back and it looks like we randomly got into a car with a stranger, but we knew they must be a band playing at The Charlotte because the van was being unloaded and MAC kept talking to them.

So we gratefully sat in the van and we read Kerrang and NME and listened to music, then we discovered the man who invited us in was Ollie who was the drummer for The Zico Chain. Then after a bit Paul (the guitarist) came in and we watched him play PS2 and we listened to The Clash. They were really nice guys.

Then Martin showed up and I banged on the front window of the tour van and he looked extremely jealous because we'd been hanging out for two hours with a way cool band in their warm van. After a while we went outside and queued - at the front of course.

Finally, we got to go inside and we got to the front (of course) and then Woody and Chris from MAC were behind us in the pit so we showed them our pictures and they really liked them.

The first guy on was called Paul Hammond. He was a comedian and was quite funny. The funniest part of his act was Woody behind us going "HAHAHAHARHAHRAHRAHRAHAHAHAHA" at everything. Paul Hammond, apparently, is a cock.

The next band on were The Zico Chain! They rocked so much, they played Rohypnol, which I hadn't heard until then but I thought it was cool even though it sounded like The Vines. It really surprised us how insane they were on stage, because offstage they were really nice and calm and quiet.

Their set was awesome.

Then a band called Brigade came on, the lead singer looked like Charlie Simpsons brother, apparently he was. But I don't know. They were a bit emo, but they were okay. I didn't buy their album though, because the lead singer kept spitting on me and Jamie and it was irritating after a while.

I did get their setlist though, (oh and Chris from The Zico Chain gave me their setlist too)

Then MAC came on and all these ratkids appeared out of nowhere, with high pitched voices and irritatingness. And this weirdo with a grey sweater on who kept trying to push to the front, I kicked him really hard in the shins, and he disappeared, then he came back so I elbowed him. I didn't like him.

MAC as usual were awesome. They played Set To Go, which I got a really cool recording of and I managed to get Darius swinging his bass on my phone (just). We're not sure if we got a picture of it because Chris stood right in front of Jamie as he was about to take the photo, so it could just be a picture of Chris' crotch.

It was a really good set. When they played 'Butterflies' the annoying grey sweater guy yelled "DO YOU KNOW THE WORDS?!" Into my ear, I gave him a patronising look and said "yes". Then he shouted "AND I STILL GET BUTTERFLIES!" I was like 'fuck off!'

Then after the show we met up with The Zico Chain and they posed for pictures and signed stuff, they're really awesome guys!
